About Thomas Martin, LAc.
In 1988 Thomas first began studying Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in London, England. In 1992 he completed the first full-time, three-year acupuncture and TCM course approved by the New Zealand Register of Acupuncturists in New Zealand. In addition he has a master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Auckland, NZ.
Having lived in the United States since the early 1990’s he is licensed as an acupuncturist by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners and certified by the National Committee for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Thomas currently provides acupuncture services at two integrative medicine clinics; Integrative Primary Care Associates in NW Portland and Oregon City Wellness and Family Medicine Clinic in Oregon City.
He is also a senior acupuncturist (on staff since 1994) at The Immune Enhancement Program in Portland which specializes in chronic disorders such as Complementary Cancer Care, HIV, Hepatitis C, MS, autoimmune disorders and pain conditions where clients who are usually undergoing standard medical treatment elsewhere are treated with acupuncture, supplements, herbal medicine and massage.
Additionally, Thomas worked for nearly five years utilizing acupuncture in substance abuse recovery as well as in local prisons.
Over the years this work has resulted in a considerable depth and breadth of experience which has provided opportunity to hone precise and empathetically applied acupuncture skills in a wide variety of clients and medical conditions.
