Thomas began studying Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1988 and has been practicing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine since 1992. Through work both in public health clinics and private practice in Integrative Medicine clinics he has accumulated considerable experience. This includes treatment of a wide variety of pain conditions and also the use of acupuncture in the management of several chronic disorders, and as a valuable adjunct to standard medicine.
Partnership with clients, collaboration with other healthcare professionals and affordability are central to his healthcare practice.
As scientific attention is increasingly focused on acupuncture there is now an historical shift toward neurological approaches and away from traditional theory without any loss in the holistic nature of the acupuncture effect, which through the nervous system inherently re-activates the various self-healing systems of the body. It is with this background that Thomas describes the acupuncture treatment style he now utilizes as Integrative Acupuncture. This is based on traditional acupuncture but refined and simplified, resulting in greater anatomical precision and understandability. It is a highly effective neuromuscular approach, which better fits the descriptions, protocols and evidence-based nature of 21st century medicine.
